At The PC Report we do reviews from time to time. For our reviews we try and take the perspective of a normal consumer looking for a product in the specific area/genre. If we are reviewing a racing game we will take the perspective of someone looking for a racing game; for a CPU review we’ll try and take the perspective of CPU buyer. We will review on the basis over overall quality as well as value for money. There is no point in getting a great object if it costs 10 times as much as the competitor.

We give a score out of 10 for all our reviewed items. The scoring goes up in increments of 0.5, making it impossible to get a 7.3/10 (a 7.3 worthy item will most likely get 7.5). Below is a list of our scores and what they mean:

10 – Perfect
Items that get this rating are the best of the best; the cream of the crop. They have absolutely no negative points to them and are great in every way possible. Very rare.

9.0-9.5 – Outstanding
Items that get this rating are great in almost every way, though have some but very few cons to them. Anything that gets this rating is highly recommended.

8.0-8.5 – Great
Items that get this rating are generally great all around although there are some minor cons to them. Items that receive this rating are worth taking a look at

7.0-7.5 – Good
Items that get this rating have pros that outweigh the cons, and are generally good overall. The cons to these items are somewhat hampering to the experience. Take a look at these items if you wish, but there are probably better ones available

6.0-6.5 – Satisfactory
Items that get this are generally average across the board, with both pros and cons but leaning towards the good side. Approach these items with caution and only use if a pro specifically impresses you.

5.0-5.5 – Mediocre
Items that receive this rating aren’t bad, but aren’t good either. They have substantial cons that almost certainly hamper and even out the pros presented. Try and find a better product if possible.

4.0-4.5 – Substandard
Items that get this rating are generally of poor and substandard quality, with more cons than pros. Steer clear of these items unless there is no other option.

3.0.3.5 – Bad
Items that receive this rating have noticeably more cons than pros and the overall experience left is bad. Items are of low quality and will almost certainly be a waste of time and money. Steer well clear.

2.0-2.5 – Awful
Items that get this rating have a substantial amount of cons, outweighing the pros by far. The item will generally be a complete and utter waste of money with next to no good things about it. Don’t buy/use under any circumstances.

1.0-1.5 – Abysmal
Items that receive this are of the absolute worst quality possible. Everything about these items is terrible, with no pros at all. By reviewing these items we have completely wasted our time. Avoid like the plague.

Another thing that we will include with reviews is a “The PC Report Review Card.” This is a card with the overall rating along with a short list of pros and cons for the item. These will be posted at the top or at the end of the review for quick reading. Here is an example:
