Microsoft has released a few bits of info regarding Service Pack 1 for both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Windows 7 SP1 will apparently be mostly minor updates and bugfixes, a lot of which have come through Windows Update since the release of Windows 7 RTM. However, there will be an updated Remote Desktop Client using a new virtualisation method called RemoteFX.
RemoteFX will be present in Server 2008 R2 SP1 as well, alongside another virtualisation feature called Dynamic Memory which aims to “meet the increasing needs of our customers as they utilise virtualization in their environments.” A release time frame has not as yet been set for either Service Pack 1s, but when SP1 is ready it will be available for download from Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center.
